The Procedure
Microphlebectomy is another medical procedure used to treat varicose veins, and it can be combined with EVLT (Endovenous Laser Treatment) for better results.
This procedure consists of permanently removing thick veins that are visible on the skin surface and affect both circulation and personal appearance.
How is the procedure performed?
This procedure is done under local anesthesia. The medical professional makes micro incisions in the skin and extracts the veins from the surface of the area under treatment. The incisions are tiny and don’t need sutures to heal.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure can last approximately one hour, depending on the size and number of varicose veins.
Care after treatment
During the subsequent weeks, there will be bruises (normal skin reaction) that will disappear within a few days, and by following the doctor’s instructions.
- Do not lift heavy objects (over 20 pounds) until one week after the treatment.
- Start wearing compression stockings daily, after the second day of treatment
- Avoid direct sun exposure according to your medical provider directions.
