ENDOVENOUS LASER TREATMENT

Endovenous laser treatment is one of the techniques of modern medicine to treat varicose veins with the same effectiveness provided by traditional surgery. The procedure consists of introducing a laser device with the help of a catheter, into the affected vein, allowing the heat energy produced by the laser to permanently close the vein, redirecting the blood to other healthy veins.

Disability time
This procedure does not require recovery time. Patients can return to their daily activities almost immediately.

Advantages of EVLT

Endovenous Laser Treatment is a minimally invasive surgical treatment to treat Venous Insufficiency, which is the main cause of the appearance of Varicose Veins.

EVLT does not require recovery time, is performed under local anesthesia, and has a lower risk of infections and hemorrhage than traditional surgery.

How is the procedure performed?

The procedure begins with the application of local anesthesia to numb the area to be treated. Then, a minimal incision is made with a needle, and the laser is inserted into the vein using a catheter. Under ultrasound guidance, the laser is taken to the point of the vein indicated for the treatment, and laser energy is applied until the vein is closed and the blood flow is stopped.

Care after treatment:

Do not lift heavy objects (over 20 pounds) until one week after the procedure.

Start wearing compression stockings daily, after the second day of treatment.

Avoid direct sun exposure according to your medical provider directions.

Can Varicose Veins come back after treatment?
Endovenous laser treatment is 95% effective. However, after some time, patients may have problems with their varicose veins again because there is no cure for weak vein valves.

The recommendation is to perform a preventive sonogram if some of the symptoms reappear.
